About NAHJ Region 2

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) is dedicated to the recognition and professional advancement of Hispanics in the news industry.

With nearly 400 members, Region 2 is the largest of NAHJ’s eight regions and encompasses Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Maria Burns Ortiz is the Region 2 Director on the NAHJ Board of Directors. A freelance journalist, Maria covers soccer and is a Page 2 contributor for ESPN.com.

NAHJ Vice President of Broadcast Hugo Balta also hails from Region 2.

Region 2 has several student and professional chapters, including:
